KeepAlive and Call Home on Your Own Dime
Concertina Wired Shorts
Hey, readers.
I'm still kicking about; haven't forgotten about you all. :)
It's just very hard and arduous to write a post when tablets have no internet, canteen has no envelopes (recently, finally resolved!) or postage stamps (it's the new "We're Out of..."), etc.
I'll add a bit of news to this!
While we had no connectivity, the Florida Department of Corrections sent this message:
NOTICE PHONE CALL RATES The free 15-minute phone call pilot for good behavior has expired. Standard call rates are back in effect for all calls.
Ah, you're getting prepared for the FCC's decision that says phone call rates must be lowered to 6¢-12¢/minute in 2025! I found out that was official after my post in July on the subject.
So for now, vacuum up as many dollars as you can from inmate trust funds? Got it!
Also, I am appalled.
Florida is the first state to ban Cultivated (a.k.a. "Lab Grown") Meat.
Where we need to be looking forward at new solutions to a growing problem, this state continues to lead the way backward.
Finally, let's consider the impact of using alternative transportation (be it carpooling, taking the bus, riding a bike, or even driving your vintage Chevrolegs to work) at least two days a week.
Most folk strike me as "Only person in the car" type folk.
If you carpooled with someone from a common location, you save that gallon or two of fuel each day; alternate turns with that person, and even if you're not buying each other gas, you're both saving, and reducing your contributions to environmental issues.
Or not; I can't stop you. :')
Take care of yourselves. I'll hopefully finish up my long blog post soon!
